A few projects I have knitted a while ago

Today I decided to show you a few pictures of some of the projects I have done over the years which didn't get put on my blog at that time so here they are.

I made this round cushion for one of the chairs in our conservatory, I found the pattern on Bond America's website so obviously I knitted it on the Bond it is knitted using a short row technique to make it circular similar to how you make a beret/Tam. I put my own edging on it, that I found the instructions for in one of my "edgings" books, I decided to to a different one than the one suggested in the pattern because I thought the one that they used looked a bit tacky. completed in 2010.

This is called a snood it just goes around the neck to keep you warm I made this for my mum, it was knitted on the knitmaster 155 in tuck stitch with 6 stands of 1ply, I tried using a punchcard to do the patterning but it wouldn't have it, because I was using so many stands some of them decide to jump out of the hooks and form loops so I had to do the tuck stitch manually. This snood I had no pattern for so it was just trial and error until I got the right size luckily it was the correct size the second time around and all it is by the way is a flat piece of knitting grafted together to make a tube, completed in 2010.

This is a wrap I made, it was a pattern I found on Bond America, I knitted this in aran yarn the wrap is made up of sections of stocking stitch and tuck lace stitch, I did single crochet around the wrap twice like suggested in the pattern but it didn't have to much of an effect as you can see from the picture it still wants to curl up slightly but I really like how it came out, this was completed in 2010.

This was my attempt at knitting a traditional Irish style aran sweater, it was knitted in aran obviously and I made it on the lk150, it has four basic 6 stitch cables on the front, two each side and a 13 stitch cable up the center of the front I think it is called a wishbone cable but I could be wrong. The sleeves have three basic 6 stitch cables running up them and the back is plain, this was completed in 2008. this was always a bit big for me but I was really pleased with it when I finished it.

This is another wrap I made for my mum in aran yarn and I knitted this on the Bond, I had no pattern for this either I just made it up as I went along and because I used a variegating yarn it makes a nice fair isle looking pattern so it is just stocking stitch with rib on the bottom and a little up the sides to stop the curling. This was completed in around 2009.

This is Diana's zig zag scarf pattern that I made for my mum and yes I like to make lots of things for her as well as my self lol, the only thing that is different from the one I made is that it is wider than the one Diana made and that is because my mum prefers it that way. I knitted this on the knitmaster 700 and srp60N ribber and I used 4 strands of 1 ply throughout. This was completed in 2010.

Jumper RE knited for the ...... time

The other day I told you I pulled out the raglan style sweater because I found that it was becoming difficult to sew up because of the way the floats were forming right up to the edges so I re knitted the front pushing the end 3 needles in hold so they would knit one colour only, however I didn't really like the way that it looked so I pulled the front out that I had just re knitted, grrr.

Yesterday I started knitting the back again after I had pulled out all raglan jumper pieces to bits, including the re knitted front and I made a new knitware pattern with the same gauge obviously but this time in drop shoulder, I knitted the back for that then I was going to start the front, I then noticed there was a small rip in the punch card I instantly thought oh my goodness the back will be miss patterned and my thoughts were correct I had a look at the back and it instantly stood out, it wasn't terrible but I wouldn't of worn it when it was finished.

My thoughts were should I punch out another card the same, repair the card or change the pattern all together, after all that thinking I just got out punchcard no 1 from the basic set and made a new swatch and a new pattern again for drop shoulder, so far I have re knitted the back and front which look ok but we'll see when it is all done.

here they are.

If it goes wrong again I may just give up, I am not one for giving up easily but this sweater may just prove me wrong.

change of plan

I deleted the posts of the back and fronts finished because I have changed my mind about doing it in raglan as when I was sewing it up today the raglan seams kept looking a mess and believe me I tried umpteen different seams but nothing looked nice so I pulled it out and changed the shoulder style to drop shoulder and made a new knitware pattern an I shall make a start on that tomorrow it just wasn't working out, the way the floats were forming right up to the edge and were quite thick so was hard to sew up plus I didn't like the way the colours looked when I was doing the decreases so today I did try to rip it back just up to the arm wholes and re knit those decrease stitches plain but I still didn't like the way it looked.
Anyway that's the reason I am going to re knit it so expect a new progress picture in the next couple of days and we'll see how this one turns out.

Blanket weave stitch sweater finally finished

Right I am really sorry if you have been waiting to see the finished sweater I was waiting for buttons to sew on it and because I was knitting other things too it just got tossed to the side as most knitters probably do sometimes when they have the urge to knit something else. but I have finished the sweater now, I shall wash it and wrap it up for my nephew for his birthday.

New project

Today while I was in Hobby craft I had to go to the yarn section as I couldn't help my self and I am sure most knitters couldn't either so I picked up two 400g balls of Hayfeild bonus aran with 20% pure wool for £16 so it wasn't to bad I usually like to get decent yarn for the lowest price I can find and I reckon others do to.
One ball is a cream colour and the other is a chocolate brown colour I shall knit up a tension swatch tomorrow in fair isle as that is what it will be knitted up in, I am making the pattern using knitware and I am knitting it on the knitmaster 155
Anyways here is the balls of yarn

Pullover nearly finished

Over the last couple days I have been continuing with the sleeveless pullover and it is nearly finished, I have the neckband finished and the am ribbing bands knitted all that's left to do now is sew it all up and weave in the ends.
The neckband should of been a single band collar but I decided to to double because it looks neater in my opinion but any way here is what it is looking like at the moment.

Tension swatch for sleeveless pullover

This is the tension swatch for the tuck stitch sleeveless pullover for my nephew, Susan suggested cables but I changed my mind and did tuck stitch I also changed my mind about doing it on the Bond so instead I would do it on the LK 150 as I haven't used that machine for a while but I couldn't be bothered with the manual tuck patterning so I changed my mind for the last time and knitted up this swatch on the knitmaster 155, "feww". I knitted this on tension 1 on the knitmaster 155 and punchcard no 1 the most basic one which I thought would be suitable for an almost 1 year old child. The swatch has been washed it just needs to dry and then I will take the measurements.

I knitted it this afternoon, I thought that I wouldn't have time today as there was alot of laundry to do, I wasn't going to sit and watch the washing machine while I was waiting for it to finish so I decided to set up my knitting machine.
anyway hears it is.

How I clean my knitting machine needle bed

I don't know if it is just me that vacuums my machine, does anyone else vacuum the knitting machine? this is just a quick video I uploaded on youtube today, I hope you find it useful, it is a very efficient way of cleaning out the fluff and dust. Also you may want to turn down your volume when I turn on the vacuum as it is quite old and loud.

An Upate

I am really sorry it has been exactly a month since my last post I haven't been on the computer much i have just been doing my exams at college and have now left so that is where I have been so sorry about that, before I start I hope everybody is well and I have missed everyone, lol.
The sweater is actually finished well I say finished I still need some buttons, it has been sitting there for about two weeks now waiting for me to sew on some buttons so I'll have to get some in the next couple of days then I will show a picture of the finished sweater.
The other day I found some acrylic double knitting in white, there is about 250 grams of it so I am not sure what to do with that so if anyone has any ideas I will be happy to listen.
That is about it for updates at the moment apart from that everything has remained the same since the last post, so sorry about not having a post for a while.
